Marsing’s Jessica Will was crowned the 2009-10 Owyhee County Fair and Rodeo Queen in an Aug. 7 nighttime coronation inside the rodeo arena in Homedale. Will was among a field of eight contestants, the largest field of hopefuls in more than a decade for the Owyhee County Fair and Rodeo title.
The 19-year-old Will is the daughter of Amber Will. She was home-schooled through high school and enrolled in Treasure Valley Community College for the fall 2009.
Other contestants for the 2009-10 title included fellow Marsing resident Natalie Evans, a 17-year-old who earned Miss Congeniality; first runner-up Mollie Weitz, 16, of Caldwell; second runner-up Michelle Siegmann, 19, of Caldwell; third runner-up Bailey Fraker, 16, of Middleton; and 18-year-old Jacquelle Boone of New Plymouth; 21-year-old Stacy Herriman of Ontario, Ore.; and 17-year-old Malia Rich of Homedale.
Will, whose first official appearance came on Aug. 8 in the Owyhee County Fair and Rodeo Parade, swept the queen competition. She also won the horsemanship and speech awards earlier in fair and rodeo week. She rode Marty during the week’s festivities.
Will has been involved in FFA and also has taken part in 4-H leader training. She also shows reined cow horses.
She also is a member of the Gem State Stock Horse Association.
